How do we best respond to unprofessional behavior professionally?
Probably, by telling a story
Let’s have a case of Downward View
All Irish like Guinness
He probably wants me to buy Guinness for him
He is also working here for Guinness
He is more manly than me & quiet
I can get away by taking on him
With my bullying & provocation techniques
To feed my ego and belittle him, I give lot of Guinness to other non-Irish guy who troubles him
I badmouth my soft target
I create character attacks to support my stand
I tease & dance with Guinness in my hands
I publicly break his Guinness glass
I move him out from the Guinness counter
I see that he serves everything but Guinness to the tables
I bad mouth him so people stop taking other drinks orders as well from him
All the time I am violent in tone, words and body language
Irish still not asking for Guinness to me
Then I harass him more
In hurt ego, anger, rage I end up behaving in hate crime mindset
I ignite & provoke people heads against him
And falsifying his attitude
People who try to support him, I assume that they all know he is looking for Guinness
and that’s why they are supporting him
Irish is already getting on my nerves
as I am shocked because of his sheer ignorance about not putting efforts towards asking Guinness to me, his superior; in spite of me harassing him from not having Guinness
And even if Guinness is questioned I am still going to harass him for his ask of Guinness
In nutshell I am just satisfying my inside bully
I shout yell like animal predator on his face
I make disgusting faces by going 5 cm distance between face to face
Still my prejudice is not coming true so
In rage I do more psychological abuses causing PTSD to Irish
I wound his lips so he can not sip Guinness
All the time in my tone, stick, behavior, anger, rage I am reminding him openly he is Irish and telling people he is here for Guinness and only Guinness
I am superior due to some bio characteristics wanting to prove my superiority, which I do by taking on him
I steal his well worth money so he can’t buy Guinness as a customer as well
Irish faints with abuse and I say he has been addicted to drinking Guinness and now can’t withhold it
When woke up Irish asks he is thirsty and expects water, I jump to conclusions and verbally abuse him and kicks him verbally out of Guinness serving
Irish also goes to another branch across the streets and my pub chief owner thinks he is lazy and wants easy Guinness although Irish is often the last one to leave the pub for the day & night
Irish is too scared now that tomorrow if the toilets are not clean in morning, people will hit him in the morning thinking he wants to sneak through Guinness after everyone leaves, as he is last one to leave the pub in the night and
After serving Guinness to others I show Irish his broken glasses & lips and ask him in harassing language how are you feeling now
And we do it every year Irish and Guinness episodes; it’s our power play pitch
Suddenly Irish who is withstanding with his face high, starts questioning about harassing behavior without realising the cause
He starts thinking analytically and thinks probably; it’s because of Irish with Guinness adverts mindsets
He says in his mind & soul that – All these years in the pub, I always worked by keeping the pub first in my behaviour. And I always believed that everyone I work with works in their full possible strength towards the betterment & overall growth of the pub, at any time instance. I go late each night when I feel satisfied that I have given the best to the pub & the customers, I could possibly do in that day. I never focused on Guinness. I never worked for Guinness. So I forgot to ask for Guinness
But now that you have harassed me enough, I do want my Guinness,
Oh yeah,
And with a cigar on it
And with full dignity!!
This is example of typical Stereotyping
Prejudice
And it’s Impact on the Culture of the Organization
Strong reminder of Governance against Bullying and Harassment
Lack of sensitivity about red zone playing
No noise, bandage is good but strong surveillance is to be enforced
To ensure we do more creative work than bandages by preventing the very cause
Business needs to be inclusive
This is the case with normal Irish; imagine what would be the case with someone with mild autism or other health issues
Be kind to people instead of trying to teach them lessons in harassing language, tone and body language
In my hand with the broken Guinness glass
Raising all the way high up
Cheers
To Humanity
